This is the Hever Castle, the childhood home of Queen Anne Boleyn. It is near the village of Hever, close to Edenbridge, Kent. It was built in 1270, and was the Seat of the Boleyns from 1462-1539. When Thomas Boleyn, Anne’s father, died, Henry VIII inherited the house and gave it to his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, as part of their divorce settlement. Most recently, it was owned by American millionaires, the Astor family. Currently, it is a popular tourist spot with annual jousts and archery competitions; they still have many of Anne’s possessions on display.

Hever Castle. The history here is overwhelming, breath-taking, beautiful, horrible, and great. Always and forever great.
